In this video I actually explain how to succeed in college. I think that I will start doing a video every Tuesday.
So the date went quite well, and I have some specific things that invited deep thought into my brain afterwards. I mean, not that thinking about everything being in a world where you were two people at once and had to focus on both equally and alternately, one being perfect, and the other being dystopian isn’t deep, but still.
Food
This isn’t as deep as the alternate reality part, but it’s a part of the blog title. I hated tomatoes for the longest of time. I never liked them. Yesterday, though, I figured out what can make me eat them! We went to the Rooftop Pizzeria for lunch and ordered a margarita style pizza with a garlic Alfredo sauce. That was it. Tomatoes were actually tasty when they didn’t have the sour gag-inducing flavor as a prominent thing.
Faith
This will be the lengthy part of this post, and I want no debates to start from it. I am explaining my viewpoint and nothing else.
To start with, while wandering around the plaza looking at galleries and such, we went into the cathedral across the street from La Fonda. It was sort of very eerie to me, because I liked the idea of faith, but not the idea of religious politics.
I am not the garden variety anything as far as spirituality goes. To start with, I am pantheistic, and believe that the non-political parts of every religion have the same root. We alter our world and thus the Universe. The most efficient way is to think about something or someone else doing it, and thus gods we pray to will sometimes and with enough energy (prayer) result in things happening (“miracles”). I don’t have a clear way of explaining all my beliefs, so when I do, I’ll make a post about it.
Point is, I like the idea of having faith in something beyond yourself. I like the idea of churches and other sacred centers. I dislike the fact that people rub in their beliefs to other people, and that people use it as an excuse to do stupid things. Along with living with faith, one must also live in the NOW.
I wonder what past-me thinks of all this.
Tumblr is the best thing that has happened to the Universe.
Without it, I wouldn’t know that the Homestuck Fandom is completely insane. Or that you only live once. Or that they said I could be anything, so I became a cloud.
More importantly, I also wouldn’t be aware that Shia Labeouf is an ACTUAL CANNIBAL and going to eat me… Oh wait, it’s just a song by Rob Cantor.
In other news, I have a date tomorrow, which is quite nice. I might discuss what happens with that afterwards.
As you may know, I write and record a lot of music. The things I have done weren’t the best, though.
For example, here’s a terrible rendition of Animals by Tom Milsom that I recorded:
Anyway, I got better. Here is the latest thing I did:
I’m really proud of it. I think I may get permission from Radiohead’s record label to sell it.
111 days? That’s all ones! Woooooo!
I have noticed that I like blogging every day. Who knows, I might do that. If I don’t, though, oh well.
Anyways, I shall now write a top ten list of the things I am most looking forward to, sort of in order:
10.Having an upper academic hand
I already have taken classes at the Santa Fe Community College. In fact, I have practically lived there for a while. I know what to do, the ins and outs, and the best way to get an A (SPOILER ALERT: Talk to the professor). Even if other people have that too, there will be less of them.
9. Community events
UNM will have a bunch of things going on, which is really cool, because I like events. I may actually try to be a part of the student government association there, sophomore year or something.
8. Having an organized routine
This thing is really important for me. EVERYTHING IS IN ONE PLACE. I am sort of OCD about mental organization, and being able to do everything I want to do will put me at a peace of mind.
7. Having access to the fitness center
This sort of goes with the organized routine, but I want to work out. It feels good, and I just have no way to otherwise do so. This isn’t a must, but since it is available to me, it’s really extremely awesome.
6. Taking fun classes
This will be a life-saver for me. The classes at UNM will probably be really fun for me, but the fun classes even more so. I think most of the fun classes are honors classes, so I guess I know what I have to do.
5. Meeting new people
I love to meet new people, especially when they are interested in what I do. It’s networking, and just plain awesome. I will also have an opportunity to re-meet people who I knew previously.
4.Multimedia projects with people
Once I meet with people, they will be either fans of what I do, find me annoying, or be a part of what I do. I will want to do short films and music projects a lot of the time, so this will help a lot.
3. Everything is within walking (or biking) distance
Thanks to public transportation, this can’t be more the case. If I need to go anywhere outside of campus, I can take public transportation, or rent one of those “ZIPCAR” things. I can even go to Santa Fe, if our stupid governor doesn’t screw things up with the RailRunner.
2. FOOD
There is food everywhere. Frontier Restaurant? Right there. La Posada? Prepurchased with unlimited meals. Everywhere else? Cheap and everywhere. Ramen? In my dorm.
1. Living in my own dorm / room of an apartment
This will probably be the best thing of all of these things. Who wouldn’t want their own place, after staying isolated from society in a house in Eldorado for 11 years? I simply cannot wait to be in a city with things happening all the time.
I am betting that this will be my best experience of life yet.
I forgot to say that on Saturday I got a haircut. It looks alright, I suppose:
Anyways, I may say bad things about living in the middle of nowhere, but it is quite a beautiful place here in Eldorado.
We have our own oasis where birds like to nest and exist:
I have a trampoline I got when I was twelve:
My dog, Saber:
In all, it’s a pretty nice place. Then again, I have lived here for over ten years, and it’s time for a change.
The play
Yesterday, I met with the other member of my band, currently named Emo Lobsters (his name is Arlo), and shared musical ideas and such. It involved being up to date with what we knew about various artists’ music videos, making Homestuck references ( http://mspaintadventures.com ) and making music ourselves. Sadly, today I couldn’t record because I (still at the time of writing) haven’t looked for a driver for my TASCAM audio interface and Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Anyway, we made music, went on a bike ride, and realized that the previous member of the band, Jessica (who I am working on with other projects, partly related), was performing in a play (about politics or something, thought me originally), so we decided to go to it.
As we arrived, we realized we would be one of few people attending it, as it was completely empty. Awaiting the play, Arlo and I wrote some more Homestuck references on a paper. Then it began. The title of the play was “My Name is Jose Rodriguez”, which turned out to be an exhibition of the dark side of violence. It told the story of two pairs of people. The first pair was a soldier with a taste for killing, and an Afghan woman taken into custody by the man (played by Jessica). The next set was a man who sold people as sex slaves, along with a woman who is a forced prostitute. The vulgarity of the dialogue was quite intense, along with the fact that things like this actually do happen.
Afterwards, I was shaking, but Jessica reappeared as herself and gave me a hug, which was quite nice. That ended the excitement of the first day of the weekend.
The birthday walk
So my friend of 10+ years turned 18 yesterday, but his party was today. Arlo appeared again, and we did have a party for a few hours (From 11 to 2:30), and then Arlo and I decided to walk from where we were (near Santa Fe High School) to the Plaza (on the other end of town). This took the rest of the afternoon (from 2:30 to 5), and upon being picked up, my legs were quite tired.
